Spiritual Rest is a Kingdom Activity.
Jesus withdrew to a quiet place by Himself (Matt. 14:13).
Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea (Mark 3:7).
We offer a restful, quiet, and well-equipped setting for individual or group sessions, leadership meetings, ministry retreats, and other Christian group functions. Be restored in body, mind, and spirit in the quiet comfort and blessed surroundings of the Branches of the Cross Retreat Center.
Answering Jesus' call to "Declare that the kingdom of heaven is at hand; heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons." (Matt. 10:7-8)
The Christian Healing Center offers non-denominational Jesus-centered 3-Day Intensive Prayer Retreats.
This Intensive Healing Prayer Retreat immerses participants in God's healing touch through teachings, reflection, and receiving prayer by two or more trained prayer ministers. It is biblically sound, Spirit led, and all Christians are welcome.
We do not want to appear in any way to be in competition with other churches. Rather we consider ourselves partners with other churches, even churches in other denominations, as members of the body of Christ. We have been blessed with a beautiful, peaceful setting for our church, and we therefore offer the use of our facilities to other Christian groups for retreats, meetings, training, and other events.
The Lord has developed here a wonderful ministry of healing prayer that is staffed by Prayer Ministers from a variety of denominations and churches in the area. We offer this ministry as an extension to the ministry of other churches who do not have the facilities or staff to provide such a ministry. And we welcome Christian individuals from any church who have a need for this ministry.
That is who we are, a church, a retreat center, and a healing ministry, three essential parts of an integrated whole, a threefold cord, if you will, that is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12).
You don’t have to leave your church in order to help, or to participate in, our ministry; the old expression “Bloom where you’re planted” applies. People in many churches around San Diego, and indeed around the country, support our ministry in various ways. In fact, a missionary couple in Albania supports us in intercessory prayer!
We invite you to partner with us in making this ministry widely available. Since we have no expense for a fundraising organization, 100% of your monetary donation goes to support our operation and ministry.
Intercessory prayer is a major focus of this church. We encourage you to send your prayer needs to us. Prayer requests are prayed over for a week or two (depending on the nature of the request) by a small group of trained intercessory prayer ministers. They are held in confidence and will not be seen by anyone other than our intercessors. Click here to Submit a Prayer Request.
Personal Prayer Ministry
Unlike our Intercessory Prayer Ministry, our prayer ministers pray and interact with you on the telephone or over the Internet during Personal Prayer Appointments. As soon as safety and county health regulations permit, we will also offer in-person appointments onsite at the Branches of the Cross campus. Anything that is said is held in confidence; our prayer ministers will not reveal or discuss it with anyone else. Praise reports and testimonies, however, are preserved and anonymously posted from time to time on our website.

This is an ecumenical ministry. In Christ we are all one, and all Christians are welcome here. “Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.” (Colossians 3:11 ESV)

While in prayer meditating on the Sermon on the Mount, this picture came into the mind of the founder of Branches of the Cross, Fr. Timothy Laundrie. He sketched it into his journal. Years later, when he founded the church, it became the church’s logo. Perplexed by how it should be interpreted, he searched early Christian literature for the phrase “Branches of the Cross.” The only thing he could find was a quote from St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch:
"Shun these wildlings, then, which bear but deadly fruit, and when one tastes it, he is outright doomed to die! Surely, such persons are not the planting of the Father. For if they were THEY WOULD APPEAR AS BRANCHES OF THE CROSS, and their fruit would be imperishable -- the Cross through which by His Passion He calls you to Him, being members of His body."
Fr. Timothy writes that the term “Branches of the Cross implied to me a network of people who crucify their worldly selves with Jesus. In John 6:45 Jesus says, ‘Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me.’ I know that I ‘learned’ the Sermon on the Mount teaching from Jesus by His transformation of me. However, I have never felt that what Jesus did for me was only available to me. Rather, I feel a sense of duty to share this rediscovery, and out of this sense of duty the Branches ministry is emerging.”
